Italy's Merlo introduced a new personnel cage for roofing contractors at the SAIE show in Italy last October. The front opening personnel basket is designed for roofing work and has a working capacity of 800 kg, including three people. The front guard rail can be lowered onto the roof and locked in three different positions, and offers 300 kg of carrying capacity. An automatic load limiting device stops all movement if the platform is overloaded, and two sensors at the front of the platform mean that the front rail can be opened only when the platform is in solid contact with a supporting surface.
