International heavy lift and specialized transport providers ALE and Roll-Lift have formed a joint venture company, ALE Roll-Lift Canada.

Starting in early 2013, the Edmonton, Alberta-based company will offer heavy lift and transport primarily in the oil, energy, mining and petrochemical industries. Investment of around $50 million over the next two years is planned in a fleet of cranes from 50 tonnes to more than 1,000 tonnes capacity. Other lifting and specialized transport equipment will also be acquired and the company will be able to draw on the existing fleets owned by the parent companies.

Bas Bronder, ALE Roll-Lift Canada vice president, said, "I am very excited about the joint venture that will see ALE and Roll-Lift working together in Canada. UK-based ALE, established in 1983, has more than 20 offices around the world and its fleet includes the AL.SK super heavy lift cranes and the Mega Jack system. Netherlands-based Roll-lift was established in 2011, headed by Frans van Seumeren, and has established itself in Latin America and Russia. Sister company RollDock offers heavy lift vessels for worldwide project cargo.
