Heis-Tek, the Norwegian operation of Alimak Group, has signed an order with Statoil for an explosion-proof industrial traction elevator with an order value of about SEK11 million ($.4 million).

The explosion-proof elevator, sold through Aker Solutions, will operate in a demanding and exposed environment with low temperatures during winter time when placed at the Johan Castberg field in in the Barents Sea. Alimak Group in Norway has previously done business with Statoil through an agreement to provide all lifts to the Johan Sverdrup project and  other large projects.

Engineering work commences in the first quarter of 2018 and the equipment will be delivered a year later.

“We have started to see some early movement within the oil & gas segment and are very pleased to deliver to Statoil ASA’s Johan Castberg field. This order confirms the renewed interest from the sector for Alimak Group’s safe, reliable and high-quality vertical access solutions and services”, says Tormod Gunleiksrud, CEO Alimak Group.
