Alimak Hek said the divestment of the business did not include the transfer of the Alimak brand or affect any of its employees. Neither did it anticipate any significant changes at its manufacturing unit located in Skellefteå, Sweden.

Petter Arvidson, chief executive officer for Alimak Hek Group, said, “The Raise Climber business needs a focused owner able to develop the business further. I’m very pleased that Arkbro Industries, a company well known in the business, has acquired the Raise Climber business and can continue to support the Raise Climber customers.”

Originally developed in 1957 for mining applications, over 2300 Raise Climbers have been uses in mines and underground civil engineering projects, such as in shafts and penstocks for hydro-electric power plants and ventilation shafts for road tunnels. The range also includes shaft enlarging platforms, winches and service/inspection lifts.

Raise climbers run on guide rails anchored to the hanging wall and are available with air, electric or diesel/hydraulic drive units. The longest shaft climbed in one step is 1050 m, in Norway.

Evan Mamas, Arkbro president, said, “We are delighted to acquire the Raise Climber business from the Alimak Hek Group. The Raise Climber business has been and will continue to be a core business for Arkbro Industries. Our plan is to further develop the technology and equipment to meet and exceed customer expectations in terms of safety, quality, performance and reliability.”

The transfer means that Arkbro Industries, founded in 1967, now provides all support, service and spare parts for all Raise Climber equipment in the market. Arkbro Industries will also continue to support all old and new customers with Raise Climber products under the trade name of Arkbro Industries.
