Alimak Hek will open a new regional sales office in Brazil on 1 January 2011. Company veteran Pepe Olguin has been named managing director of Alimak Hek Brazil.

The Brazilian office will initially focus on the development of sales of new machines in both industrial and construction markets. This will include sales to contractors and rental fleets in construction and to major petrochemical, power, cement and other industrial clients.

The office will be staffed with engineers to support new unit sales efforts with the progressive development of After Sales capabilities during 2011. The operation will provide support for the entire Latin American region from its base in Brazil.

Before his new appointment Mr Olguin was Alimak Hek's global offshore/LNG manager. Alimak Hek said; "He is well known within the Group and has worked successfully for many years in developing sales in all areas of our business. In particular, he brings extensive experience in the development of industrial sales."

Patrik Nolåker, Alimak Hek Group chief executive officer, said; "The establishment of a regional operation in Brazil is an important step in implementing our global strategy, with strong presence in all major regions and countries globally.

"Much of the future economic growth will be in the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) and it is important that Alimak Hek is well positioned in these countries. The Brazilian market and many other countries in Latin America are currently experiencing significant economic growth and we have to leverage this by ensuring that we are close and easy to reach."
