Ashtead founder Burnett to speak at ERA convention

Geworge Burnett, former chief executive of Ashtead Group, will give the keynote address at this year's ERA convention in Manchester.

George Burnett, the former chief executive and founder of the Ashtead Group, will be the keynote speaker at the ERA Convention taking place on 26-27 May 2009 at the Midland Hotel in Manchester, UK.

Mr Burnett, who retired from the business in late 2006, organised a Management Buy In at Ashtead when it was a five branch rental business in the south-east of England with revenues of £1 million. He oversaw the rapid growth of the A-Plant business in the UK and Sunbelt Rentals in the US, and oversaw the NationsRent acquisition before he retired.

In addition to Mr Burnett's speech, the Convention will include six round table sessions on a wide range of rental topics. The theme for this year's convention is Investing in People.
