Astaldi for Warsaw bypass

27 July 2015

Italian-based contractor the Astaldi Group has been awarded a contract worth €242 million for the construction of Lot A of the South Bypass Road in Warsaw, Poland.

It said that the project would complete an important, strategic project for the development of the city’s infrastructure, ensuring significant benefits connected with reducing traffic congestion in the city centre.

The works involve the design and construction of approximately 5km of expressway with two separate three-lane carriageways in each direction, linking Puławska junction to Przyczółkowa junction (Lot A).

Complex work along the route is also planned, comprising nine bridges, a double-tube 2.3km tunnel, two road junctions and all related works.

Planned to take 41 months to complete, work on the project is expected to start later this year.

The project has been commissioned by Poland’s General Road & Motorways Authority (GDDKiA) and the works will be financed using EU funding.
