The Piaf Compact from ATN, launched at APEX, will be joined by a new crawler mounted platform in 2015.

France-based ATN is set to extend its crawler range with a 23 m model with outriggers.

The manufacturer already produces the 8.1 m working height PIAF 810 vertical mast, but this new product wil be its first foray into a platform with outriggers.

ATN announced its plans at APEX while launching another product, the Piaf Compact mast lift. It has dimensions of 1.46 m x 0.78 m, a low 970 kg weight and is designed to fit into elevators.

The new crawler will be designed with the rental market in mind with easy-to-use control system similar to the one found on its other products. Arnaud Duclos, chairman of the ATN management board, says, “Every spider is different and very complicated to use. We are trying to deliver a new type of product that is user-friendly and rental-friendly.”

The new machine will have a 1.2 m width, which will make it wider than a standard door in a residential property, and runs counter to the argument that tracked machines must be very compact. But as Mr Duclos explains, a 23 m machine will not be used in residential properties, but more likely buildings with wider doors, like, he suggests, gymnasiums.

The prototype of the new machine will be ready in 2015, said Mr Duclos and will be followed by a 17 m model afterwards.
