Award accolade for UK contractor EDS

06 April 2011

UK contractor EDS has gained the Site preparation and Services Award 2011, part of the UK's Specialists Awards - an annual event for the UK construction industry run by Construction News magazine with the support of the National Specialist Contractors Council.

EDS was recognised for the work it carried out when contracted by Pfizer to clear the latter's 340 acre Global Manufacturing Site in Kent, UK. EDS demolished and cleared Zone B of the Pfizer site, including the cleaning of process and piping equipment and the PVA sealing of structures to prevent release of Selamectin materials during demolition. The latter was a vital part of the work, since the site was only 100 m (328 ft) away from a river and even the tiniest amount of Selamectin that found its way into the water could kill all marine life for 10 miles.

Managing director Darren Palin said of the Award: "Specialist, large scale, highly complex projects such as that undertaken for Pfizer in Kent are what EDS has built its reputation on and it is fantastic to be recognised at this level. The team at EDS is incredibly proud of its work undertaking entire project delivery for major blue-chip companies across the globe to areas such as North America, the Far East and Europe and this accolade is in recognition of all our project delivery teams who work tirelessly to ensure the highest levels of client satisfaction are met."
