Award win for Wales-based Cuddy Group

27 April 2011

UK contractor Cuddy Group has scooped the Demolition Contractor of the Year award at the Construction News Specialist Awards, an annual UK event organised by that publication aimed at highlighting the role of specialist contractors in the construction industry.

The Construction News judges looked at Cuddy's client focus, business performance, dedication to training and safety, and project success over the last year, and notably for its continued role in the St Modwen's brownfield regeneration of the 1,060 acre former BP oil refinery site in Coed Darcy, West Wales. Over the last year, Cuddy has made a £2.4 million (US$4 million) investment in plant, seen a 5% increase in staffing levels and established a land remediation division.

According to managing director Mike Cuddy: "We have always worked hard to maintain a continuous investment in health and safety, staff development and sustainability. Clients want to invest their trust in hard-working, dependable and technically capable companies, and this award is welcome recognition of our ability to fulfil these requirements."
