Big demand for second Lift & Move USA event

More than 250 students and high school kids and students have already registered to attend the second Lift & Move USA careers day in Houston, Texas, on 10 February 2016. The event is on course to attract more than 350 attendees.
Lift & Move USA, which is a joint effort between SC&RA, industry publisher KHL Group, and NCCCO, highlights career opportunities in the crane, rigging and specialized transport industries and is targeted at high school kids, students at technical and vocational colleges, and military veterans.
The first event in Chicago in June last year attracted more than 150 attendees and was a great success but the Houston event looks likely to attract at least double the number.
“We are very excited about Houston”, said Brett Melvin, Lift & Move director at SC&RA. “We launched Lift & Move USA to promote careers in our industry and to help plug the skills gap. The first event in Chicago was a great start but the fantastic number of advance registrations for Houston show that we are on the right track.
“Hundreds of potential future employees in the Houston area will be exposed to the great career opportunities available in our industry. The support of industry companies, including TNT Crane & Rigging, who will host the Houston conference, means that the attendees will also get the chance to get an up close look at a wide range of lifting and transportation equipment.
“I encourage SC&RA members to send representatives to Houston to see for themselves the impact of the Lift & Move USA programme and also to consider hosting a future event.”
The registration fee for industry professionals is US$ 150 (SC&RA members), with booking completed online at: www.liftandmoveUSA.com Lift & Move USA is free for college students, high school kids, parents, teachers, and military veterans.
Two further Lift & Move USA events are scheduled for 2016 following the one in Houston. One is in North Carolina in May, hosted by Buckner Companies, and the other is in California, in November, to be hosted by Bragg Companies.
