Bilfinger Berger has doubled the size of its facilities management (FM) business with the acquisition of M+W Zander's FM division from Austrian investment company Victory Industriebeteiligungen Group. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

M+W Zander FM has 4300 employees and sales of € 500 million per year. Its client list includes IBM, EADS and Deutsche Bank, and some 75% of its revenues are generated in Germany. Bilfinger Berger says this now makes it the biggest FM company in Germany. The company also says M+W Zander's presence in Austria and Switzerland complements its own businesses in those countries, while branches in Eastern Europe and Russia open up new opportunities for growth.

M+W Zander FM will be integrated into Bilfinger Berger Facility Services, which is the company's fastest growing business unit. Last year its sales increased +25% to € 6.3 billion, while its earnings before interest, tax and amortisation (EBITA) grew +46% to € 180 million.
