Biodiesel hoses

06 May 2009

Eaton has launched its new line of flexible rubber hoses designed for use with B2 fuel (a mix of 2% biodiesel and 98% traditional diesel) to B100 (100% biodiesel). The GH100ESP hose delivers excellent performance with synthetic lubricants used in high-temperature transmission oil cooler applications.

Constructed from a hydrogenated nitrile rubber tube wrapped with an aramid/poly braid reinforcement and polyester abrasion-resistant cover, the hoses are rated to carry up to B20 at 1500 and above B20 at 1250 in the engine compartment. For transmission applications rating is increased to 1750.

"Biodiesel blends and synthetic lubricants are important aspects of the emerging sustainable energy system," said Alexandra Benz, product manager for hydraulic hoses. "Unfortunately, these fluids can quickly make ordinary hoses brittle and prone to cracking. The materials used in GH100 resist ‘bake out' which therefore reduces the potential for damage and early hose failure."
