BKL expands with Liebherr

Crane rental company BKL Baukran Logistik has opened a new depot in Germany and ordered six new Liebherr mobile cranes for it.

The company’s latest site, its fourth, is at Ingolstadt in Bavaria, about 90 km north of its head office depot in Munich. The others are in Frankfurt and Hanover. The new 4,500 square metre site will specialise in mobile cranes and logistics. Capacities of the depot’s new cranes are between 45 and 200 tonnes. An MK 88 mobile construction crane with extended LM3 load capacity curve and its own trucks are also based there.

Three of the six new cranes have been delivered. First was an LTM 1060‑3.1, the new 60 tonne model first shown at the Bauma 2013 in Munich. It was followed in early June by an LTC 1045-3.1 and an LTM 1130‑5.1. They were collected by Rainer Speich, BKL site manager, from the Liebherr factory in Ehingen, Germany. An LTM 1095‑5.1, an LTM 1100-5.2 and an LTM 1200-5.1 will be delivered by the end of 2014.

BKL employs 140 people and has a fleet of 300 tower cranes in addition to its 40 wheeled mobile cranes up to 500 tonnes capacity.
