Boels Maschinenverleih Österreich has acquired the rental and service operations of MR Drott, also based in Austria. The deal was completed on 1 May.

Pierre Boels, CEO at Boels Rental: “We are very pleased with the acquisition. This will ensure Boels attains the number one position in Austria. We are also happy to welcome some very experienced new colleagues to our team. In addition, Drott services and maintains an extensive customer base in various fields of civil engineering. ”

Drott was established in 1940, and has been in the rental business for construction machinery for the past 35 years.

With nine branches and 60 employees, Drott is the leading specialist in Austria when it comes to earthmoving equipment.

Boels, whose head office is in the Netherlands, moved into Austria eight years ago and its recently opened Klagenfurt branch gave it 11 sites in the country in total.

Pierre Boels added: “The acquisition is an important step forward in our growth strategy. We are expecting to see synergy benefits and will increase our fleet in Austria.

“By taking advantage of our new nationwide coverage, we are able to further expand our unparalleled service to key accounts. What’s more, we are actively responding to the global shift from purchasing to renting, a trend that is also evident in Austria.”

Karl Streicher and Stefan Krejca, on behalf Drott’s management team, commented: “Drott and Boels are an excellent match.

“Joining forces creates the possibility for synergy and continuous growth, and the acquisition will enable Boels to provide an even better service to our customers.”
