Boyd takes over at Hertz Equipment Rental Corp
27 April 2011
Former head of Hertz Advantage Rent-a-Car, Lois Boyd, has been appointed executive vice president and president of Hertz Equipment Rental Corp (HERC).
Ms Boyd replaces Gerald Plescia, who announced his retirement in January after 14 years in the position and 32 years with the company.
Hertz chairman and CEO, Mark Frissora, said Ms Boyd's experience made her well-suited for the role. Hertz acquired Advantage Rent-a-Car out of bankruptcy in 2009, and Ms Boyd steered the company into profit - the business now generates over US$ 240 million in annual run-rate revenues.
Mr Frissora said, "Lois Boyd has almost 15 years of senior management experience managing costs, growing revenue and developing people in highly competitive businesses, and these are the ongoing challenges for HERC as it continues to rebound from the worst equipment rental recession in its 42-year history".
He added that the group believes HERC is poised for breakthrough success. "HERC's best days are ahead in the near future and Lois has the right leadership experience to accelerate the process," Mr Frissora said.
Meanwhile, Hertz appointed Gary Fulena to replace Ms Boyd as acting general manager of the Advantage car rental business. Most recently, Mr Fulena served as vice president of operations and administration for Advantage, reporting to Ms Boyd
