UK rental company Bryn Thomas Cranes has purchased five new Liebherr all terrain cranes and a new six axle Spierings SK1265-AT6 to add to its fleet.

The Liebherr order comprises two 60 tonne capacity, three axle LTM 1060-3.1s, two 90 tonne four axle LTM 1090-4.1s and a 40 tonne two axle LTM 1040-2.1, in a deal worth around €2.8 million ($.3.1 million). So far one LTM 1060-3.1 has been delivered, with the remainder to follow later in 2016.

The 60 tonner has a 48 metre, five-section boom with a bi-fold swingaway extension. It has all wheel steering and can travel in the UK with all 12.8 tonnes of counterweight, extensions and hook blocks on board. The second new LTM 1060-3.1 is expected to arrive later in March.

The 90 tonner has a 50 m main boom and the swingaway extensions take the maximum lift height to 75 m. The UK’s 16 tonne maximum axle load limit, allows the crane to carry 17 tonnes of its maximum 21 tonnes of counterweight, along with its extensions.

As another fleet addition, Dutch mobile folding crane manufacturer Spierings delivered a new six axle SK1265-AT6 to Bryn Thomas, the fourth unit of this model for the north Wales-based company.

The SK1265-AT6 is one of the company’s most popular models, explained Bryn Thomas. Capacity is 10 tonnes out to 13.5 m radius and it will lift 1.7 tonnes at the end of the 60 m jib.
