25 March 2008

Two of the four cooling towers at the Calder Hall facility on the Sellafield. The first commercial nuclear power station in the world is currently being decommissioned, with 6,000 tons of asbestos being removed from the 16 heat exchangers at the plant. The towers themselves are being prepared for controlled explosive demolition, which will be carried out later this year. D&Ri will report on the job in a subsequent issue.
