Checkers Industrial Safety Products, the USA-based safety products manufacturer, has acquired Zigma Ground Solutions, a UK temporary access and ground protection company that serves the European, American, Middle East and Australian markets with high-quality, industrial matting products for a range of applications.

Co-founded by Iain and Feann Brown, Zigma has twice been named in The Times Virgin Fast Track 100 table of Britain’s 100 fastest growing companies.

“This acquisition combines two leaders who serve the same industries in different geographic areas,” said Mr Brown.

“It provides Checkers with an expanded product offering that addresses a broader set of solutions, and Checkers’ commitment to develop the Zigma brands and provide our customers with an expanded product offering and global presence was quite appealing.

“We are determined to continue to provide our customers with the same quality products and service they have enjoyed.”

As a result of the acquisition, the TuffTrak, LibertyMat, EconomatMB and GeoGrid brands into the Checkers product portfolio and expands the ground protection matting into heavier-duty applications.

Checkers said this complements its recent acquisition of Superior Manufacturing Group, which focuses on pedestrian and floor matting products.

Other recent matting and ground protection acquisitions by Checkers include AlturnaMATS and SVE Portable Roadways, both US-based and offering matting for industrial applications.

Checkers president Ray Torres said: “We are extremely excited that Iain and Feann Brown and the Zigma team will now join Checkers as we continue to develop and expand our global strategy for our plastic and composite Ground Protection industrial matting product line.

“Zigma, coupled with our recent acquisitions of AlturnaMATS and SVE Portable Roadways, gives us the most extensive product offering in the industry, to meet every industrial and commercial matting application."

Zigma Ground Solutions will continue operations out of its UK facility under the guidance of Iain and Feann Brown.
