Climax Portable Machine Tools has opened three new rental depots in the US and one in Australia to support increased demand for its on-site portable machining tools.

The new rental locations are in Houston, Texas; Prairieville, Louisiana; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Perth, Western Australia. The company now has 11 rental sites worldwide, including locations in US, Canada, Mexico, UK (London), Germany (Cologne) and Singapore.

The sites provide customers in construction, power generation, mining, shipbuilding and engineering with access to its machine tools, including boring machines, flange facers, milling machines, key mills, lathes, lapping and grinding machines.

Climax, which is based in the US and Germany, said rental was a cost-effective way to obtain tools for unexpected repairs, in particular at times of recession when many companies have aged their equipment fleets.

"By renting portable machine tools, companies can try the latest, safest, and most technologically advanced equipment in the marketplace, paying only when they use the equipment," said Dave Baker, director of worldwide rentals at Climax Portable Machine Tools.

"In most cases, we can ship rental machines to customers within 24 hours from our rental depots, so that customers can be up and running with their job."
