Demolition of structures built during the soviet occupation of estonia called for demolition specialist Baltic Demolition to invest in some new equipment. Under the contract, the company will process and recycle around 100000 tonnes of waste, including a 4 km long conveyor belt which linked the site to a nearby harbour.

Local dealer, AS Balti Ehitusmain-Baltem, supplied Baltic with a 3,2 tonne Rammer RD32 cutter crusher, which is being used with a Komatsu PC340LC-7 excavator, for the work at Sillamae. The RD 32 has clocked up 3700 hours of service on the Sillamae site in nine months without any problems.

Hitachi's new Zaxis 500 LC is equipped with a Genesis ‘Quick-Change-System∍, which allows the boom to be changed from the cab in a few minutes, allowing the machine to switch quickly from demolition to earth moving work.
