CPA grows Terex fleet

29 June 2010

Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) in Bangladesh is adding to its fleet of six rubber tyred gantry (RTG) cranes supplied by Noell Crane Systems. The authority has ordered six diesel-electric straddle carriers from Italy-based Terex Noell.

The 1 over 3-high straddle carriers will replace outdated machines from different manufacturers as part of a major modernisation project at the port in the light of increasing container traffic.

Carlo Forini, general manager at Terex in Lentigione, Italy said the company had been working non-stop to increase production levels to meet market demands, following Terex's acquisition of Fantuzzi and Noell last year.

"Some significant changes have also been made to all our customer service activities. With the expertise transferred from Terex Cranes, the new Port Equipment management team was able to act rapidly to significantly improve the availability of spare parts, which allowed us to triple spare parts sales within no time. We are continuously reviewing existing processes and improving them if we believe that it benefits our customers. It's a big cultural change and we keep receiving extremely positive feedback from our customers," said Forini.
