Finnish rental company Cramo has published its Sustainability Report for 2014.

Sustainability is becoming an increasingly significant corporate issue in Europe and indeed “Sustainability as an Opportunity” is the theme of this year’s European Rental Association Convention.

Cramo operates in 14 countries and the report said: “It is not enough to comply with a country's laws or to adapt to the culture of the country.

“The whole business is conducted within the framework of sustainable development. Sustainable competitiveness achieved through responsiveness to customer needs, development of sustainable products and services and by conducting their own operations with sustainability considerations.”

Much of the report deals with Cramo’s health and safety record, with president and chief executive Vesi Koivula saying: “Every incident or accident that we can avoid counts. Cramo is committed to supporting our customers in reducing accidents.”

Cramo also provides training courses for customers and is now the official training centre for workers looking to qualify for their Powered Access Licence cards.

Internal initiatives detailed in the report include a whistleblowing service for employees.

“It is vital to have a reliable whistleblowing function in place since it provides an additional way to ensure compliance with the Code of Conduct,” said chairman Helene Biström.
