National Interstate Insurance Company, a USA-based transportation insurance provider, has a new insurance programme for crane, rigging, heavy haul and specialized carriers.

Tony Mercurio, executive vice president and chief operating officer at National Interstate, said, "Having entered the crane, rigging and specialized carrier market in 2006, we not only fully understand the unique needs of specialty operators, we have the financial strength and stability required in this industry.

"National Interstate is rated A (excellent), with a positive outlook, by A M Best Company, and has once again been recognised by Forbes as one of its 100 Most Trustworthy Companies, receiving the highest score. We are also looking forward to providing a distribution platform that allows retail agents to work directly with us, a partnership that has been difficult to find in this MGA driven marketplace."

National Interstate, a member of the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA), is seeking brokers to market the new programme, a spokesperson said. The new programme will be added to its existing Titan Captive Program and will be available from December.
