Rigging, heavy hoisting, and heavy hauling company Crane Service, based in New Mexico, USA, has added a new 250 tonne capacity class Terex AC 250-1 all terrain crane to its fleet.

The AC 250-1 has an 80 metre pinned boom and a 113 m maximum system length, including a 36 m (118 ft) extendable swing-away jib. It has the longest main boom and is roadable within a 12 tonnes per axle loading, Terex said.

The AC 250-1 joins an AC 100/4L which, according to Scott Wilson, Crane Service president, was one of the reasons why the AC 250-1 was their preferred choice. “We decided on this model based on our relationship with Terex and our positive experience of the AC 100/4L.

“We were impressed by the main boom combinations and the 80 m full power boom was a definite advantage. Not to mention the crane’s impressive lifting capacities across the board,” Wilson continued.

“Its exceptional manoeuvrability and flexibility were another benefit. The counterweight configurations and options make it operationally and logistically very friendly, especially here in the United States and, of course, the cost per tonnage capacity is a real boon.”

The new crane fills a gap in the fleet. “There is a market for this size of crane,” Wilson explained. “An increasing number of our customers now have heavy lifts and need longer boom options. This crane will enable us to meet this need.”
