25 March 2008

The Global Rental Alliance – a group of national rental associations around the world – has added the French rental association DLR to its membership. DLR attended the latest meeting of the alliance at the Rental Show in Atlanta, in February.

The organisation, which aims to foster cooperation on issues such as theft prevention, workforce development, legislation, education and insurance, now numbers six member organizations: Hire Association Europe (UK), Hire and Rental Industry Association (Australia), Hire Industry Association of New Zealand, Canadian Rental Association, the American Rental Association and DLR.

Michel Petitjean, secretary general of the European Rental Association (ERA), also attended the February meeting in Atlanta.

ARA said the goal of the Alliance “is to increase the profile of equipment rental worldwide and to collectively increase membership value to the members of the respective organizations.”

At the February meeting, the group committed to further developing The Global Rental Alliance Web site (www.globalrentalalliance.com) to share international news. ARA said; “When people connected to the rental industry plan to travel to any one of the Alliance member countries, they are encouraged to use the ‘Contact link to connect with rental companies or suppliers in that country.”

The Alliance will meet next in February 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada, at The Rental Show.
