Doosan Heavy Industries Vietnam has shipped eight rubber tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) to the Port of Singapore as part of a 39-crane order from PSA Corporation Ltd.

Following 30 months of design and manufacture, the eight-crane shipment marks the final delivery of 36 RTGs to PSA's port operations in Singapore.

Twelve of the RTGs have eight tires that can rotate 90 degrees and the remaining 24 RTGs have 16 tires that can simultaneously rotate 360 degrees. Each of the cranes weighs about 145 tonsne, and are 27 m high, 25 m long and 11 m wide. The RTGs have a lift capacity of 40 tonnes

The order for 39 cranes also included three super weight rail mounted quayside cranes (RMQCs) that Doosan says are nearing completion. The larger RMQCs are designed for a maximum load of 56 tons

The Port of Singapore is one of the world's busiest. Operated by PSA, the port handled 29.37 million TEUs of containers in 2011.
