The proposed mall would be the biggest in the world

Plans have been announced for what would be the world’s largest retail space at 750,000m² in size.

The US$2 billion ‘Dubai Square’ will be located in Dubai Creek Harbour and would be double the size of the current Dubai Mall.

Emaar Properties is developing the project in a joint venture with Dubai Holding, the government’s global investment holding.

A spokesperson from Emaar Properties told CNN, “Dubai Square pushes the boundaries of modern retail and leisure by drawing on next-generation technology. It is designed for the new era of customers, who are digital, connected and tech-savvy.”

The shopping centre will lie at the base of the Dubai Creek Tower. The 928m tower, designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, will be completed by 2020. The new shopping centre will be located 10 minutes away from Dubai International Airport.
