EDA publishes first demolition industry report

18 November 2015

The first report to give an overall view of trends, forecasts and data relating to the demolition industry in Europe has been officially released by the European Demolition Association (EDA).

The document is published with an ISBN code (so it can be quoted and used as a reference document) and is only available in print format.

The association’s Statistics Working Group led by Andreas Pocha, general manager of the Deutscher Abbruchverband, prepared the report, which is the first real approach at European level to have an overall view of the demolition industry.

The report is almost 270 pages long and includes detailed information about trends in the demolition industry, forecasts and data on a number of topics related to contractors’ daily operations.

The report aims to combine a European Union view of the industry with a national view of the EDA’s member countries, which will help demolition industry stakeholders develop their business knowledge both at home and abroad.

To gather the information, EDA designed a two-phase survey at a European level, with translations into several languages so that mistakes and misinterpretations could be avoided.

The first phase concerned more general questions and resulted in a European and country-by-country overview.

The second phase was a much more detailed demolition-centred set of questions on Companies and Activities, Industry, Equipment, Material Handling, Waste Management, Regulations and Standards.
