IPAF has provided clarification to members on the implementation of European Directive 2004/108/EC relating to electromagnetic compatibility and repealing Directive 89/336/EEC.

The new directive applies as of 20 July 2007 and the old directive is “repealed” from that date on. All new products can be placed on the market against the provisions of national laws that implement the new directive.

However, manufacturers can continue to place “historic” products on the market if they comply with the provisions of the old directive until 20 July 2009.
