EquipRent.com offers text request service

US online equipment rental portal EquipRent.com is now offering customers the chance to request rental equipment via text messaging.

The service that connects commercial contractors to local rental companies now offers a nationwide service delivering rental requests via SMS text to local branches.

EquipRent packages the renter's equipment request which includes: equipment, project location, phone number and company name into a text message before electronically sending the request to the mobile phone of the most qualified local branch. Rental company personnel can then click on the text message and get connected directly with the prospective renter.

Chris Young, founder and vice president of technology at EquipRent, said; "Our customers have been sharing with us that reaching new customers faster is imperative for growth in 2013.

"Offering a feature that engages a prospective renter with just a click from their mobile phone gives them that edge to book more rentals."

The service is currently free for a limited time to new rental companies and the EquipRent installed network.
