07 December 2018

The European Rental Association (ERA) is calling for equipment rental companies to showcase their sustainability innovations by submitting entries for the Sustainability Award, as part of the upcoming European Rental Awards.

The winner of the Sustainability Award will be announced at the awards ceremony in Madrid, Spain, on 15 May next year, during the ERA’s annual convention.

The ideal entry, said ERA, will be a sustainability project or initiative that is ethical and environmentally-responsible. It could be a single initiative or a team within a rental company.

The award can be entered by any size business and organisers – the ERA and International Rental News - are keen to hear from SMEs from across Europe who are leading the way with their sustainability efforts.

The Sustainability Award is just one of the award categories for the European Rental Awards. More details, including downloadable entry forms, can be found at www.khl.com/rentalawards The deadline for entries is 15 February 2019.

Michel Petitjean, Secretary General of ERA, said: “The equipment rental industry has witnessed sustained growth across Europe in recent years. While rental itself is a fundamentally sustainable solution compared to ownership models, we wanted to call-out and recognise the special innovations that committed rental companies are driving in this field, particularly SMEs.”

To quantify the environmental benefits of renting in comparison to ownership, the ERA has recently launched a new in-depth study, Positive Environmental Impact of Rental.

Led by the Climate Neutral Group (CNG), the results will be presented at the ERA Convention on 15 and 16 May 2019 in Madrid, that will be dedicated to the sustainable benefits of sharing equipment.

“The rental industry is hugely proactive in its efforts to decrease harmful emissions, cut the quantity of equipment needed and reduce total energy usage within construction”, added Petitjean, “The Sustainability Award celebrates these innovations put in place.”

The European Rental Awards ceremony will take place in the Hotel Meliá Castilla in Madrid, Spain, on 15 May 2019.
