ERA focuses on Millennial recruitment

05 April 2017

The European Rental Association (ERA) will address the key issue of recruiting and retaining Millennials at this year’s ERA Convention, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The ERA has commissioned a comprehensive study, to be carried out by a business psychologist and sociologist, to examine the latest trends and ideas in hiring, training and career development for the Millennial generation.

The study will feature in-depth interviews with HR directors, while it aims to help share best practice across the equipment rental sector.

Pierre Boels, ERA president, said, “The digital era has transformed how we serve our customers and how we manage our fleets. It will also transform how we attract the brightest and best talent.”

In keeping with the overall Convention theme of Securing Talent for the Future, the ERA has also published a shorter best-practice guide to recruitment and retention of Millennials.

Produced as a downloadable PDF, it contains five case studies from senior figures at leading rental companies including A-Plant, HSS Hire, Kiloutou, Loxam and Ramirent.

Mr Boels added, "This e-book focuses on best-practice case studies from rental companies that are embracing the opportunities presented by Millennials. “We look at the key topics such as how our business model, and our visions and values correspond with the ethics and career desires of Millennials; innovative recruitment strategies; and new ways of communication.”

The e-book is available to download for free from the ERA website: www.erarental.org. Both the e-book and the in-depth study will be the focus of presentations and panel discussions at the ERA Convention.

It takes place alongside the International Rental Exhibition (IRE), APEX exhibition, and the European Rental Awards. All four events run concurrently at the RAI conference centre in Amsterdam, 2-4 May, 2017.
