During the last European Rental Association (ERA) General Assembly on 23 May in Vienna, Michel Petitjean, ERA’s general secretary, announced a new ERA project on the “Positive environmental impact of rental”.

Era

This project is now live.

The rental industry operates in a circular business model. As such, rental companies contribute to the transformation towards a more circular economy.

By optimising the utilisation rate of equipment, preventing unused appliances, limiting storage space required and minimising waste and material usage by applying recycling where possible, the sector likely contributes significantly to carbon reduction. This contribution, however, has not been comprehensively mapped and quantified.

This project aims to fill that void.

This project will be managed by Climate Neutral Group, a social venture established in 2002 by Foundation Doen and Triodos Bank. CNG is the Benelux market leader in the field of emission reduction and carbon offsetting.

The ERA team will report regularly on the progress of the project.
