ERA Sustainability Workshop outcomes

05 June 2019

During the latest ERA Convention, held in Madrid on 15 and 16 May, two sessions of workshops were organised to allow delegates to attend more than one of them. The workshops were run by four of the ERA Committees: the Technical, Promotion and Sustainability Committees and the Future Group.

Sustainability Workshop - ERA Conference

ERA Conference - Sustainability Workshop

The Sustainability Workshop was organised as a continuation of the presentation delivered by Climate Neutral Group and CE Delft in the Plenary Session on “The Carbon Footprint of Construction Equipment”.

In the workshop, the participants had the opportunity to discuss, among other topics, the parameters defining the environmental impact of the use of construction equipment. More specifically, they were asked to come up with some inefficient use cases and how they can be defined, offer input on the types of parameters and how exhaustive they are, and suggest what range would constitute normal or efficient use for each parameter.

The participants also discussed the purpose of the calculator and how it might be used in practice.

The outputs collected in this workshop will be used to finalise the report on the Carbon Footprint of Construction Equipment, which will be published before the summer. They will also be presented during the next committee meeting in September and will be used to fine-tune the priorities of the committee in its work going forwards.

The presentation delivered by Climate Neutral Group and CE Delft is available on the ERA website, https://erarental.org/en/events/convention/era-convention-2019

The Sustainability Committee is open to all members of the ERA. If you are interested in joining, please contact the ERA team, era@erarental.org.
