Demolition and recycling company Erith Contractors has won the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents’ (Rospa) gold award for outstanding health and safety performance.

Rospa carried out health and safety assessments on the company’s business and operations, before awarding it the prize. Erith Group’s safety, health, environmental and quality director, James Hiom, said: “It demonstrates our commitment to improving health and safety standards across our business and the industry as a whole.”

In the past two years Erith has won a number of industry awards and accreditations. Among them are the ARCA (Asbestos Removal Contractors Association) gold training award and two World Demolition Awards for Safety and Training at the annual World Demolition Summit organised by Demolition & Recycling International.

The gold award will be presented to the United Kingdom-based company at Rospa’s award ceremony in London later this year.
