Eurovia has been awarded a US$ 435 million contract to renovate and widen a 32 km section of highway in the US state of South Carolina.

The Vinci subsidiary, which specialises in transport infrastructure, will be represented in a consortium by its own US subsidiary, Blythe (60%) and including Zachry Construction Corporation (40%).

The four-year project involves renovating the existing road surface and adding two new lanes on a stretch of the highway between Charlotte and Greenville in South Carolina.

At periods of the greatest construction activity, some 350 people are expected to be employed on the project, which involves 800,000 m3 of earthworks, 1.1 million m² of concrete and 670,000 tonnes of asphalt mix

Within the scope of the project will be the construction of six bridges and a railway viaduct over the motorway.

The contract represents Eurova’s fifth project on the I-85, in both North and South Carolina in the past 15 years.
