First delivery of 54 m Ruthmann
21 January 2013
Ruthmann has delivered the first 54 m working height Steiger T 540 truck mount, officially introduced at the beginning of November.
It was handed over to MA-BO, a long-time Ruthmann customer based in Gronau, Germany. MA-BO is a partner of Kamphuis Hoogwerkers BV, a Dutch aerial platform rental company. In 2007, Kamphuis took delivery of the very first Steiger T 580.
A feature of the T 540 is its long upper boom and movable jib. When working at a 50 m height it provides operators with 5.7 m of additional lateral reach compared to other truck-mounted aerial work platforms in this class, claims Ruthmann.
The T 540 is the second model in the Height-performance series and will be followed by the range-topping T 7XX, with a working height of 70 m, at bauma 2013. No other details about the new model are currently available.
The T 540 includes a 54 m working height and 40 m lateral reach, with an extra 3 metres of upper boom length amounting to 16 m total outreach. The working cage features a 600 kg load capacity and can be extended hydraulically from 2.42 m to 3.82 m in width.
The four outriggers of the T 540 can be controlled individually from the rear on both sides of the vehicle. Set-up time at the job site is reduced thanks to easier positioning of the support plates. The outriggers can also be controlled using the alternate control on the passenger side or directly from the control panel located in the working cage. The automatic retraction mechanism saves precious time and is very user-friendly, added the manufacturer.
