GAM buys Guimera from Atlas Copco

22 April 2008

Spanish rental company GAM bought Atlas Copco's Spanish rental business, Guimerá S.A., on 13 February for €18 million.

Guimerá, based in Barcelona, rents power generation and temperature control equipment. It has annual revenues of approximately €14 million, seven depots and 92 employees. It will become part of GAM’s power rental division, GAM Energy, which was formed one year ago.

Guimerá rents power for major events and also supplements the power requirements of Spain’s Island holiday resorts each summer.

Atlas Copco bought Guimerá in 2004 and it has been part of the Specialty Rental division of its business unit Compressor Technique. The sale continues implementation of Atlas Copco's strategy to focus on renting its own oil-free compressors, while exiting the market for more general rentals.

Atlas Copco's remaining specialty rental business in Spain operates under the Atlas Copco name.
