Spanish rental company GAM has won a five year contract valued at €3 million to rent material handling equipment at a new logistics centre of one of Spain's largest supermarket chains, Alimerka.

The €60 million logistics centre in Llanera, Asturia, is scheduled to open soon and GAM's industrial division has been contracted to provide almost 150 machines including forklift trucks, stackers, pallet handlers and cleaning equipment.

As well as providing the equipment, GAM will maintain the fleet and offer back up services in the event of machine break-downs.

Alimerka is one of the largest supermarket chains in Spain and Portugal with 174 stores, and is particularly strong in the regions of Castilla Leon and Galicia.
