GJJ will build an RMB 1 billion (US$162.6 million) factory in China to produce mast climbers, a product that is in its infancy in the country.

The manufacturer specialises in hoists but GJJ chairman Wang Hua Long said mast climbers would become very popular in the future. At the moment hoists and scaffolding are used primarily on worksites.

The factory will be built in co-operation with the Chinese government and will have a 5000 unit a year capacity. Mr Hua Long said the use of mast climbers would greatly speed up construction as well as making it safer and more environmentally friendly than using scaffolding. He forecasted that the mast climbing market in China could reach 200,000 units.
