MCS Global Ltd, the UK-based rental software company, has appointed Guy van der Knaap as its new chief executive officer. He will take over on 1 October, succeeding his father, Richard van der Knaap, who founded the company in 1982.
Guy van der Knaap has been with MCS for seven years and is currently customer services director. Before joining MCS he worked with companies including Schroders and Sky Television, and he has an MBA.
"I set up the company in 1982 to serve the hire industry with software and solutions", said Richard van der Knaap, "but I now feel the time is right to hand over to Guy after seeing the company grow from a start-up to an international business with installations in 14 different countries. Guy's progressive, dynamic and forward-looking vision will be a great asset for MCS."
Richard will remain involved in the business, offering input and advice, especially in the areas of sales and marketing, said MCS.
Guy said; "These are exciting times for MCS, as we will be launching a new version of MCS-rm, our flagship product, in the next few months and we are working towards extending the market share that we have both in the UK and abroad.
"It's been a tough few years in the hire industry, but our longevity in the marketplace, our large customer base, our advanced software solution and our highly experienced staff all combine to place MCS in a leading position to serve the hire industry's technology requirements going forward".
