The Swedish arm of Finland-based Havator Group has acquired BinSell i Uppsala AB, which offers crane rental in the Stockholm area.

Havator AB has bought all of the stocks of BinSell i Uppsala AB, which has a turnover of around SEK 80 million (US$ 11.6 million). Its 50-strong workforce will stay on to continue working with the company's 22 cranes from 23 to 300 tonnes capacity.

Havator Group specializes in crane rental and other services, oversize and over weight transport, assembly work and harbour crane services.

"The acquisition of BinSell i Uppsala AB is a part of the strategic development of Havator AB in Sweden. BinSell i Uppsala fits well in Havator's existing network of offices. With this acquisition we strengthen our base and the possibility for further geographical expansion in Sweden. Our market position is also strengthened, which gives a good basis for providing even more complex services and solutions to our customers," said Peter Nilsson, Havator director of operations Sweden.

The Greater Stockholm area is one of the priority areas for developing Havator's operations in Sweden. In August, for example, Havator signed a €6 million ($8.4 million) contract with Betongmästarna i Sverige for the installation of the concrete structures of the new Stockholmsarena sports stadium. Havator will install around 20,000 pieces, including structural sections, roof sections, beams, arched structures and the outer wall sections. Havator and BinSell have experience of working together in arena projects.

"The acquisition is important for the development of the company, as we will be a part of a larger group. I knew Havator from before and the company is known for its modern machinery and for larger and demanding jobs. Our equipment will complement well Havator's existing fleet. In addition, our location will be an important part of Havator's network," said Jan Winberg, BinSell i Upsala CEO.

Havator already has offices in southern Sweden in Nyköping, Norrköping, Linköping, Motala and Göteborg as well in Stenungsund and Sundvall. Havator's other offices in Sweden are in Örnsköldvik, Umeå, Skellefteå, Piteå, Luleå, Kalix and Kiruna.
