Former Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) president Tony Helsham has been appointed CEO of Doosan Infracore's construction equipment business.

Mr Helsham worked for Volvo for more than 30 years, and was president of the construction equipment division from 2000 to late 2008. He then spent a year as a member of the parent company's executive committee, responsible for 'soft products before leaving the company earlier this year.

Prior to taking up the position of president of Volvo CE, the first non-Swede to do so, he headed up the company's excavator business in Changwon, South Korea. Volvo acquired the business from Samsung in 1998.

Yongmaan Park, Chairman of Doosan Corporation said, "We are delighted to welcome Tony to Doosan. We have always had big ambitions and bold plans in the construction equipment space. Despite the worldwide recession, we have not deviated from our plans and successfully set the foundation for growth. Our company is now poised, with Tony's leadership, to accelerate our drive toward a top three position in our industry."

Mr Helsham added, "I am pleased to be joining this highly driven and successful team. Doosan's commitment to being a truly global business, and to attracting and developing international leadership talent, makes this a particularly exciting time to be joining Doosan."
