Hertz appoints new general manager for China

Hertz Corp has appointed Edward Hu as general manager and vice president of Hertz China. Mr Hu is based in Shanghai, China and will report to Michel Taride, president, Hertz International and executive vice president, Hertz Corp.

Mr Hu, who is from China, was most recently at Regus Group, the business office and teleconferencing specialist, where he was senior vice president for Greater China. At Regus one of his responsibilities was expansion in China by establishing close relationships with local governments and other business partners.

He has also previously worked for Dell, IBM China and AT&T. Mr Hu has an MBA from INSEAD, a Master's degree from New York University and a BA from the Institute of International Relations in Beijing.

Hertz said China was a key, long-term market for its car rental and equipment rental businesses. In addition to its car rental business, it has four equipment locations, in Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou, and Tianjin.

Michel Taride, president, Hertz International, said: "We are very pleased to have Edward Hu on board. Edward has extensive business development experience in China, which includes expertise in working with government officials at all levels and strategic business partners based in China and abroad."

Mr Hu said he was excited to be joining the Hertz; "I look forward to driving rapid business growth in my country, working closely with the government, our strategic business partners and the Hertz team."
