Hewden has expanded its rental fleet with the purchase of two all terrain Terex cranes and 50 new JCB telehandlers.

The equipment was purchased to help increase levels of availability so equipment is ready for hire, where and when customers need it, the company said.

Along with the JCB telehandlers, two 80 tonne and 120 tonne all terrain Terex cranes have been acquired, helping to extend the lifting capacity of Hewden’s fleet. In addition, when loaded with full ballast, the 120 tonne crane can be used as a 140 tonne unit, expanding capacity further.

Mark Hogg, product performance director at Hewden, said, “The purchase of the 80 tonne and 120 tonne units complements our existing crane fleet perfectly and means we can now cater for a more diverse range of lifting applications.

“Our level of investment is a clear indicator that we are determined to fill supply gaps in the market and provide a market leading service to our customers.

“We have selected the best products based on the clear preferences of our customers and are again working with best-in-class suppliers.

“Younger equipment is more technologically advanced and reliable, which ultimately equals more uptime for our customers and fewer breakdowns on site.”

The two cranes have been delivered and have already been out on hire. Full delivery of the telehandlers was due for completion in December 2012.
