Hitachi has used Intermat to introduce its 20 tonne hybrid excavator to European customers. The company plans to start sales in Europe following CE certification of the machine.

The 20 tonne class ZH 200 is currently in production in Japan and the company has sold over 100 units domestically. Hitachi Construction Machinery Europe international sales manager, Paul Burger, said that following the European certification process, he expected the first units to be sold in Germany, where there is a strong interest in environmentally friendly equipment.

Powered by a 122 kW engine, the excavator can be fitted with a 0.51 - 1.10 m3 bucket and offers a digging force of 158 kN. Maximum dig depth is 6.67 m.
