Hitachi expands range of wheeled excavators

Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) has further expanded its offering of wheeled excavators with the launch of the ZX135W-7, which will be showcased at Bauma in Germany in October this year.

With a 360-degree swing radius, 2.2m arm length and a Stage V- compliant 4-cylinder engine from Deutz, Hitachi says the machine performs well on sites with confined spaces and that it has been designed to meet the needs of contractors seeking greater versatility.

The short-tail ZX135W-7 has a maximum operating weight of 14 tonnes and a HIOS V hydraulic system that is said to increase front speed, while delivering up to 7% less fuel consumption when compared with the Zaxis-6.

An ECO gauge on the machine also allows operators to control fuel efficiency, a feature that the manufacturer claims can help reduce costs and improve profits.

According to Hitachi, attachments for the wheeled excavator are “easily changed” by using the enhanced attachment support system, while the machine can also be fine-tuned to suit the operator’s comfort and operating preferences, as well the site’s safety requirements.

Commenting on the machines visibility and safety, Hitachi, said, “Visibility is boosted by an exceptional 270-degree bird’s-eye view with the Aerial Angle camera system. Operators can choose from six image options on the monitor to view the immediate environment.”

The Zaxis-7 wheeled excavator is also fitted with LED work lights, a windscreen wiper with an increased sweeping area, larger mirrors and, “for additional safety, the upper structure and front attachment will lock in place when the machine is in the correct position, for driving on public roads”.

Wilbert Blom, Hitachi Europe’s excavator product panager, said, “We’re delighted to introduce this highly versatile new model to the market and look forward to showcasing it at Bauma 2022.”

The ZX135W-7 is one of several new excavator models recently by the Netherlands-based company for the European market. Earlier this month, Hitachi added to its range of Zaxis-7 medium excavators with the release of the ZX390TC-7.
