Hitachi UK opens new Scotland depot

Hitachi's new Scotland depot

Hitachi Construction Machinery UK (HCMUK) has opened a new product support facility on the outskirts of Glasgow, Scotland.

Described as being “the heart of the Hitachi customer experience” in the region, the new depot in Cumbernauld will be staffed by a team of eight employees that will provide equipment sales, parts and servicing to new and existing equipment owners.

The facility measures 1,160m2 (12,500sqft) and replaces the company’s existing parts depot in Glasgow’s Bellshill area, which at 111m2 (1,200sqft) is significantly smaller.

Stephen Creaser, Director of Product Support at HCMUK, said, “HCMUK is delighted to announce the opening of this large depot in Scotland to support our loyal customers.

“By investing in bigger premises, employing new sales staff, additional Service Engineers and a dedicated Product Support Manager we can ensure that customer uptime will be maximised throughout the region to increase profitability and reduce machine downtime.”

The product support depot includes a parts warehouse with trade counter, workshop space and office space to accommodate the HCMUK’s sales team. and a large, concreted yard to house new and used Hitachi machines.

According to HCMUK, the move to expand its operations in the area - which included the creation of two new staff positions - was driven by growing customer demand for product support.

Creaser said, “There is massive scope for growth here in Scotland, as we have already gained the trust of many new customers since the announcement of the new depot, and we look forward to driving their business forward over the coming months and years.”
