HLI’s Schnabel railcar

US-based heavy lift and transportation specialist HLI Rail and Rigging has announced that its new 20-axle Schnabel railcar, with a 40 foot, 6 inch deck, will be available to carry cargo as of June 2018.

According to HLI the railcar will have the longest deck available in the USA and also the largest load capacity for a 20-axle railcar. In Schnabel mode it has a capacity of 1.1 million lbs (500 tonnes), while the 40 foot deck insert has a capacity of 959,000 lbs (435 tonnes).
